This past week on our radio program, “Asset Protection Today,” on Talk Radio 850 WPTK (AM) with Attorney Bill Alexander, we were delighted to welcome Danny Beeson, the Regional Vice President of Matthew 25 Planning. Danny is a funeral director with ten years of experience in the funeral business.
Everyone should make time for funeral planning, as it’s an inevitable final expense. You can prevent your loved ones from having to make difficult decisions in times of stress by organizing your important documents now and making your funeral arrangements ahead of time. In addition, legacy planning allows you to pass along your values and stories to your children, which they can share with generations to come.
Funeral planning can be stressful for loved ones, especially without prior planning. Families must often make arrangements for a funeral held only days after a loved one’s passing. In preparation, the funeral director usually requests the deceased’s personal information (such as his or her Social Security number, education levels, military dates of service, maiden names of parents, etc.), which may not be readily available. Advanced planning prevents your loved ones from having to make these difficult decisions, as you can provide all necessary information and predetermine your wishes for the service. In addition, prepaid funeral arrangements can alleviate concerns about paying for funeral costs when the time comes.
Legacy planning allows us to pass our values, stories, and history to those who come after us. Most of us know the names of our parents and their stories. We often know our grandparents’ names and sometimes the stories about their lives. But, how many people know their great-grandparents’ full names and histories? Legacy planning is a great way to pass down our favorite stories and memories to our children, as well as the values that we think are most important.
On March 6th at 11 am, Danny and Bill will hold a free seminar at the Holiday Inn Crabtree, where you can learn more about legacy planning. Call (919) 256-7000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make your reservation. Our law firm, W.G.
