Shazia Keller grew up in the foothills of North Carolina. Her parents, a homemaker & a veterinary officer with the USDA, had four daughters. Her family instilled old fashioned values of hard work, sincerity, & devotion to family in their children from an early age. They were so determined that their girls pursue lifelong learning and higher education that they began asking each about college plans starting at age four.
Shazia attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both her undergraduate (B. A. 1993) & law school (J.D. 2004) studies. She worked at IBM in Research Triangle Park for several years before deciding to attend law school. After receiving her Juris Doctor, Shazia dedicated her work to public service & practiced law in the Charlotte area until October 2016. She worked at Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc., for over 10 years, most of which were spent providing free legal services to low income senior citizens. This work underscored the importance of building assets, no matter how modest, protecting them & preserving them for future generations. Thus, her passion for estates work & elder law was born. She became a frequent speaker on the topic for community groups. To further sharpen her expertise, she served as the supervisor of the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court’s estates department before joining W. G. Alexander & Associates, PLLC.
Shazia’s work at the firm focuses on trust & estate planning/administration, planning for elder care matters, Medicaid & asset protection. She is a VA accredited attorney. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina & is active with the Wake County Bar.
Shazia is married to Charles Keller, Jr., of Conover, North Carolina. He is an Information & Communications Specialist with the Administrative Office of the Courts. In their limited spare time, they enjoy traveling, exercise, baking, home decorating, & spoiling their young nieces.
